Mr Johnson said: “It’s tough on chaps like me who hope to be on a shortlist but if you want to do something about the cultured pearl jewelry ludicrous under-representation of women in Parliament then it makes sense because women are demographically in the majority.” Mr Cameron’s initiative will probably apply in only a few seats where MPs have yet to announce their decision to stand down. Party modernisers accept that the decision will anger activists but insist that it is the only way to extend the party’s representation significantly beyond “white, middle-class men”. There are currently only 19 female Tory MPs and Mr Cameron expects the number to inflatable water games rise to 60 after the election. There are 91 female Conservative candidates already in place. This was deliberate and sexual.” Giving evidence, the pearl necklace woman said: “I felt someone grab my left buttock. I turned around because I was quite disgusted and shocked.
